Phyllis Horne

Born in 1937 in Richfield, Utah, Phyllis Forsey Horne now resides in Salt Lake City. Her formal art training began at Brigham Young University and Fashion Academy (fashion illustration) in New York City. While raising her six children, Phyllis was determined to further her artistic ability and attended night school with newly-formed adult education programs in California, enrolled in the Famous Artists’ Correspondence Course, studied with University of Utah’s Continuing Education program, and involved herself in “every art class and workshop available.” She is a charter and signature member of the Utah Watercolor Society and her work has won top local, state, and national awards. Her work is in corporate, public, and private collections throughout the U.S.A. and Europe. In 1996, she received the “Best of Show” award from the Utah State Fair. For the past several years, she exhibited paintings at Utah’s prestigious Days of ‘47 Art Invitational with 46 other prominent artists. Phyllis is comfortable working in oils, pastels, and watercolor, describes her work as “loose, impressionistic realism” and places great emphasis on the play of light.
