Barbara Lyman was born in 1953 in Washington, D.C. and lives in American Fork, Utah with her husband and son. At Brigham Young University, where she majored in painting, the artist was awarded first place in the Vera Hinckley Mayhew Awards (Fine Arts Division), the Olena K. Lewis Scholarship, the Paul Boshard Scholarship and several talent awards. Her work has been shown in national, state and regional shows including those at Springville Museum of Art in Springville, Utah; Central Arts Collective in Tucson, Arizona; St. George Museum of Art in St. George, Utah; The Kimball Art Center in Park City, Utah; and Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden, Utah. She has had solo shows at the Springville Museum of Art, Brigham Young University and Repartee Gallery and was invited to participate in a show at the Arizona Museum for Youth in Mesa, Arizona. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Springville Museum of Art.
